In the Shadow of Monet

Exhibition campaign for the Columbia Museum of Art's summer 2022 exhibition 'In the Shadow of Monet: Giverny and American Impressionism'. The CMA featured a partnering contemporary exhibition of Amanda McCavour's 'Bright Little Day Stars'. Using color from the Impressionism movement with Amanda McCavour's work, we created an identity to visually connect a traditional arts movement, with a contemporary artist for a cohesive marketing campaign on all platforms and channels.

Project Details

With a small selection of photo assets, I created a campaign identity rooted in the celebration of color found in both the Impressionism movement and in McCavour's work. A lensing motif was created as a visual element to represent the kaleidoscoping distortion of perspective when viewing both exhibitions— both McCavour's and the Impressionism exhibits take on different lives when viewing the pieces at different angles and distances. McCavour encourages viewers to get up close, touch, and lay on the floor to fully experience her work. Messaging and copywriting by Luke Hodges.
