She Resisted: Strategies of Suffrage

GBH’s American Experience documentary, 'She Resisted', explores the final decade of The Women's Suffrage Movement through powerful images brought to life with color for the first time. 'She Resisted' is not just a website, but an immersive exploration of the moments that moved our nation forward for the better. As part of the Cyberwoven team, I developed a visual identity for the online experience, inspired by the documentary itself and the visual motifs of the Suffrage Movement, and translated that identity to a UI design for the custom CMS that was built in-house.

Project Details

'She Resisted' allows the end-user to experience, firsthand, the strategies women used to bring about the most significant expansion of voting rights in American history. With features including a suffrage map, as well as highlighting different tactics, viewers can dive deeper into the victories and the challenges of Women’s Suffrage. We created an interactive experience for American Experience that takes an intimate look at the women who forever transformed the politics of social and political change in America. Creating an Engaging Experience

The interactive site created an engaging experience for viewers, and a powerful, custom content management system was created in-house based on GBH's specifications. This digital storytelling platform allows producers at American Experience to produce interactive stories and narratives easier in the future. In turn, this allows GBH to offer more immersive content for the stories their films document.
