Online web series art direction and visual identity for SCETV's show 'Citizen Better'— hosted by food personality KJ Kearney.
In SCETV's online web series 'Citizen Better'— produced for PBS, KJ Kearney explores unconventional avenues of civic engagement in everyday life. The goal is to empower viewers to make a consistent, meaningful impact beyond just election days. Recognizing that one size does not fit all, KJ will metaphorically "try on" different forms of informal civic engagement, discovering which approaches best align with his efforts to leave a lasting footprint in our democracy. While the client took full creative control of the cinematography and editing, I created a brand packet for the new web series, heavily influenced by the bright and bold culture of youth-led social activism. Hand-drawn textures, shapes, and collages were implemented to reference the DIY spirit of the show's ethos. Along with art direction, SCETV asked my creative team at Cyberwoven to pitch the name of the show, and work with animator Patrick Nugent to have the show open and transitions come to life. Messaging and naming by Luke Hodges.
